Looking For a Custom Made Experience?

There is no one-size-fits-all formula. A photo session in Florence is an experience. An intentionally authentic day where the focus is on you and your family. That means you spend it as you want: whether it’s an activity in the city or a dinner on a rooftop, I’ll help you customize each detail so you can enjoy the day with your family.

Prefer a different City?

The photoshoot is available also in Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Viareggio and Pietrasanta – just to name a few of the famous places in Tuscany.

Got Questions?

I’ve Got Answers!

I’ve heard it all. You are not photogenic, you don’t know how to pose, your husband doesn’t like photos and your kids can’t behave. I’ve heard these even from the families you see on this page. They also thought it could not be them. As a photographer it is my responsibility to create the ideal setup and find your best look. We will start the session with a short consultation to get to know each other better, and then we will take some warm up pictures to get familiar with each other. Model or posing experience is absolutely not required. Given that each family has their own style I am in charge to find the real YOU, to show who you really are instead of taking unnatural poses.

As soon as you finalized your vacation itinerary I recommend to book your session immediately, especially if you are aiming for a sunset session as they get sold out easily in peak season. If your itinerary allows it it’s best to have your session when you spend an entire day in Florence. A good night sleep, a nice lunch and fresh clothes will help you and your family to feel more relaxed during your session.

The recommended starting time changes throughout the year. In any case I strongly recommend to avoid mid day when the sun is too strong (that is when Italians are taking their siesta 🙂). Generally, I prefer late afternoons and sunsets as they offer a more orange/warm light combined with blue sky. Afternoon or mid-day is recommended though at late autumn/winter when the light is softer and warmer anyway.

I know that some people prefer the early morning to avoid the crowd but there are some locations in Florence which are specifically more beautiful at sunset than at the morning. With years of experience I know how to avoid the crowd in any circumstances and have stunning family photos even in challenging environments. In addition to light, experience proves that kids (up to 20 years old) are more tired and sleepy at the morning than at the afternoons due to jetlag so it’s a lot of pressure on them to wake up early, dress up nicely and smile when they feel exhausted.

Still confused? Feel free to reach out and I’ll be happy to give you my guidance!

  • First of all, wear something you feel good in. Prioritize comfort over everything else. Avoid squeezing yourself into something that is too tight or makes you uncomfortable.
  • Totally matching in general is not advised. Try to coordinate the colors and styles rather than match. In case of doubts you can’t go wrong with neutrals. Cream, beige, white and denim is a fail-proof recipe.
  • Avoid loud patterns and prints or large logos. Try to pick a basic outfit but add accessories such as hats, scarves or a sweater. This is a great way to add variety to your images and express your own style.
  • Any long, flowing fabric is going to photograph beautifully. Think skirts, long dresses, flowy sleeves.
  • We will move around in Florence city center by foot, so additional comfortable shoes are recommended for women.
  • Also, if you don’t like your upper arms consider wearing a short sleeve dress or shirt because in a sleeveless dress certain poses – such as hugging – can show too much of your arm.

I do not think that a person’s body should be edited to look a certain way. I take pride in being a body-positive photographer that looks at the organic love happening between people. We all have skin, fat, folds, and other beautiful curves. I embrace it all. The only retouching I do is for the skin: some wrinkles, acne, scarring, blemishes, or bruising. I never look at someone I’ve photographed and seek out to erase their “imperfections.” I only see love, which is honestly what you’ll remember most about the day when you look back on these images. The best photos won’t be about how your body looks. It’ll be about the connection you share with the ones you cherish the most.

Got your itinerary, packed your luggage and ready to hit the road? Once in Italy, I highly recommend to wear sunscreen the days before your photoshoot. You might not be used to the intense sun and I guarantee that in Italy you’ll spend a lot of time outdoor. Protecting your skin is not just healthy but helps to avoid sunburn. Also, if you visit the countryside a mosquito repellent can be useful too to avoid mosquito bites.

In general I prefer to walk around the city center to have as many different backdrops as possible. The walking is easy and convenient, however it might not be suitable for everyone. In case of elderly people, toddlers, knee or other joint issues or extreme hot I can recommend shorter itineraries. In case you are concerned just let me know your preferences and I’ll accommodate your needs. In situations like this I used to go directly to your hotel and take pictures in front of several different backdrops in close proximity. Occasionally we can take a taxi too for a short ride. I know my city very well so you can be sure that I will offer exciting solutions for all needs.

Tuscany is the land of sunshine with lot of sunny hours even at Winter. In some special occasions, a light rain or cloudy skies can create unique images. In case of very bad weather though it is possible to reschedule your session. For this reason it is highly recommended not to schedule your session for the last day of your visit. The day before your session I’ll check our local and reliable weather forecast provider and contact you if needed. (So please don’t forget to give me your phone number during booking.)

If your session can not be re-scheduled due to very bad weather or other force major events, your booking deposit will be refunded.

  • Bring your cell phone so that you can contact me if you get lost or if you’re running late.
  • For babies and small kids, I recommend to bring their favorite toy, something colorful which they enjoy to look at. It helps to grab their attention.
  • A small bottle of water is also recommended during the hot summer months to avoid dehydration.
  • If you choose to wear heels for your session, bring a pair of easy-on-easy-off flats that you can slip into as we walk between locations.  Avoid anything with snaps, buckles, or zippers, as you don’t want to waste your session time constantly changing into and out of complicated shoes.
  • Sunglasses can also be handy in case of strong sun. If you don’t mind to have some pictures taken with sunglasses, please make sure that all family members will have one with them. We will definitely take many pictures without sunglasses too but it is nice to have options.
  • You may also want to bring a small Ziploc or clutch with makeup for touch-ups.  Otherwise leave everything else at the hotel.
  • Do not bring a big bag full of passports, cameras, and other valuable items that you might keep on you.  When we stop to take photos you’ll have to set that bag down and it will be unattended.  I can keep small bags, but please leave any large items at your hotel.

Traveling can be challenging sometimes. Lost luggage, canceled flight, rescheduled tours or other issues might force you to change your plans. First of all, it is important to embrace all these changes with a positive attitude. Adventure is part of the fun and Italy will teach you how to enjoy the Dolce Vita with a flexible mindset. As a photographer who works in the tourism industry, I understand all of these struggles so I offer the possibility to reschedule your session for free if needed. (It is subject of availability though but I always do my best to accommodate all needs.)

Kind Words

She made my daughter feel like a princess for a day. This was an unforgettable experience for the whole family!

Eva was the best photographer I have ever used.  My daughter celebrated her 15th birthday in Florence, Italy where she had a photoshoot.  It involved 3 outfits.  She was professional, punctual, friendly, patient, knew all the best spots throughout Florence and artistically  talented.  Above all, she made my daughter feel like a princess for a day.  This was an unforgettable experience for the whole family as a large group picture was also done.   I highly recommend her and hope to some day hire her again in the future.

What really impressed us about Eva was her ability to make us look natural in front of the lens

Eva effortlessly snapped away photos of our mixed bunch – my mum, my own family with two boys, and my brother’s family with a 2-year-old. All the while, she guided us through Florence’s hidden beauty, locations we would never have discovered on our own. What really impressed us about Eva was her ability to make us look natural in front of the lens with editorial-style photos. But Eva isn’t just about the photos. She even went the extra mile to share insider tips about getting around Florence. It felt like having an unofficial tour guide along with our personal photographer! Her skill, creativity, and ability to capture not just images, but the emotions behind them, genuinely impressed me.

Our photo shoot with Eva proved to be the best money spent on our trip to Florence! We have fantastic professional photo memories of our trip that we will have for a lifetime. Eva is an excellent photographer and very flexible and accommodating. She also knows all the best spots to take photos! There are 5 of us in the family and somehow Eva managed to get all of us looking great. It was a very fun way to spend 90 minutes and the smiles in our photos prove it! Highly recommend!

5 Secret Techniques

I USE for
Perfect Family Portraits

Step 1: Handling the Kids

Depending on their age, having kids sitting or standing straight smiling into the camera might be difficult. In my experience the most challenging age range is between 3-5.  They are too young to concentrate but already too vivid to stand straight without moving. For a formal picture I used to have some toys in my hand or make funny noises so they will look to the camera at the same time. I also used to ask the parents for the kids only photos to stand right behind me and talk or sing to them. We used to laugh a lot during these!

Step 2: Handling the Parents

You might think that adults can focus and look into the camera but it’s not the case when they have their kids around them! They just can’t help but look at them while pointing to the camera. So my first rule used to be: ‘No matter what, don’t look at your kids! Whatever they do just keep smiling into the camera and I will take care of the rest!’ It sounds easy but it’s something very difficult to do as it’s an automatic gesture for everyone to smile to their kids.

Step 3: Dealing With The Sun

As I mentioned earlier, I take portraits of families during their holiday. These photo shoots are always open air as the families would like to capture the beauty around them instead of a studio, either on a view-point or the city-center of Florence. Either case light might be strong in certain areas (even though I prefer the sunset) so making sure everyone has their eyes open can be difficult sometimes. My strategy in case of harsh light is that I ask everyone to close their eyes and then open them with a big smile on three. So I start to count and one, two, three, and then the magic happens: everyone gives me a big smile with their eyes open! Works amazingly all the time!

Alternative option is to have sunglasses for each family members and take some pictures with these fancy accessories too.

Step 4: Enjoying The Dolce Vita

After we’ve set up the ideal pose in front of an amazing backdrop, it’s time to make sure that pictures will look natural. Some personalized prompts separately for men, women and kids will ensure that each and every person will feel comfortable and genuinely happy.

Step 5: Laughing Together

I also love to take informal family pictures where the parents can have fun, laugh and play with the kids. One of my favorite trick is the: ‘Now let’s tickle the person next to you!’ Laughing is guaranteed with this one! Then we go on jumping, playing and other funny things. I love to see how parents are enjoying these memorable times with their kids during their session.  Family pictures are the most valuable and precious memories over the years!
